Summer

Well we're almost through June and it's already been a busy summer! Last Friday morning after Levi got off call, we drove to KC to take him to the airport. He flew out to Tucson, AZ to visit his grandparents. His Grandma has cancer again, and it has spread to many places in her body, and they've decided not to treat it. Levi's parents were driving out there, picking his brother David up along the way (who was visiting inlaws in TX), then they all picked up Levi in AZ. It is a sad time, but a good time for them all to be out there together. We are thankful the Lord worked it all out. The boys and I just stayed with my family in KC, which was a wonderful time, then Levi flew back into town on Tuesday. It was so good to see him, even though it was just about 4 days of being apart... Neither of us do well being apart from each other. The boys were excited to go in the airport and see the planes landing and taking off, VERY excited to see their Daddy walk through the gate, but seemed a bit disappointed as we were leaving. Apparently Carson and Cole thought we were all going to get on a plane and go somewhere. :) Instead we walked back out to the car in over 100 degree temps and humidity through the roof, and drove back home. Vacation for us will have to wait! Crazy enough Levi is entering his third year of grad school, and will be completely done in 8 months! As challenging and time consuming as it's been for him, it's been a really fun time in our lives.
We're looking forward to the 4th of July weekend and spending time with the Ballew family, then back home for a couple weeks before Levi leaves for Iowa for a month. He's been very busy getting lots of paperwork done, and classwork, so that while he is in Iowa for the neuro and hearts rotation he can also start studying for boards in the evenings. That will probably be the one plus of that rotation, is that he will have peace and quiet to study like he should for the dreaded test that is 8 months away.
Levi's parents are on their way back home from Arizona, and should arrive in town Friday night sometime. Also David and Deann will be on their way home from Texas tomorrow as well. We would appreciate prayers for all of them and safety as they travel, as well as for Grandma Gayan and the rest of the family in AZ. Hope your having a great summer and staying cool!

Friends, Family, and Fun

Kate, Abby, and Alex
Amy and Kate
Carson, Abby, Cole, Alex, and Marcus

Well the last few weeks have been a blur...This summer is proving to be busy but tons of fun! The boys are really enjoying their swimming lessons, of which this is the last week. Every night they seem to be more and more comfortable with the water and learning new skills. The first week of June the boys had their little friend Spencer here, who I was babysitting for three days, then Levi's uncle Jim and his family came to visit for a couple of days. Last week my friends Amy, Kate, and her kids came to visit for a few days. I've been friends with Amy since gradeschool, and we met Kate our freshman year in college, then all became roommates throughout our college years. This along with swim lessons every night, we've had a really fun couple of weeks!
We also finished redecorating the boys bedroom. We pretty much had everything to decorate, just haven't done it yet in this home. We set the beds back into bunk beds, which Marcus and Cole are sharing. Carson is now in the loft bed. (they boys decided amongst themselves who would sleep where) We've also had letters for their names since they were born, but I didn't put them up in this house or the last home because with our "renter" white walls they wouldn't show up. Since we'll most likely be here for a while I decided to go ahead and paint the letters so we could use them, framed a few pic's, and made a couple of plaques.
Hope you all are having a great summer! I'll try to start posting more regularly... :)

Marcus and Swim Lessons

Marcus-4 yrs.
Marcus had his first swim lessons tonight. He loved it! This year he was in the Toddlers advanced class, which focuses mostly on swimming pool safety and basic swim techniques. He had to do stuff like get himself out of the pool on his own repeatedly, and hold onto the side and move back and forth along the wall, jump in off the side and turn around and immediately hold the side of the pool. He also worked on several different types of floats, kicking his legs, and quite a bit of other stuff. I think I had as much fun as he did. Tomorrow night we're headed back to the pool with the twins. Carson is so excited he can't stand it, and Cole is saying he's excited, but when we get there he may be saying the opposite. :)

First Swim Lessons

Last night the twins were supposed to have their first swimming lessons. However, the weather changed all of that. Due to lightening we got a call that lessons were cancelled for the evening. The boys were so disappointed as they both were really looking forward to it. Instead we took them out for dinner, and we'll try lessons again on Wednesday night. Marcus is scheduled to have his first lesson tonight, but the weather forecast is not looking like it will be any more cooperative tonight. We'll see!
We have a busy but fun week scheduled as the boys' little friend Spencer is hanging with us the first part of the week, then Levi's uncle Jim and his family will be staying with us later in the week while they visit family and friends here in town. The boys have a birthday party at the park on Friday, and swim lessons every night through Thursday. So far, I'd say they are enjoying summer!
